In this one picture, you have two club legends, both the highest scoring midfielders of any generation, over 450 career goals, over twenty trophies and unprecedented individual accolades, and most importantly, two of the most passionate players and leaders of this generation.
Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard. You can’t make a list of best midfielders of this generation of and the top player of premier league without naming these two absolute legends. Stavie G, Captain Fantastic and Frank Lampard the goal machine. Two players have have inspired millions of fans around the world, sweated their guts out to please these fans. Despite the well renowned fact, that all but English Managers can see, that they sadly could never be at their playing for NT with each other by their side, and the even more popular debate that which of these two midfielder is better than other, you can’t dent the presence and how much the premier league will miss them next season when they will ply their trade in United States of America.
When I was a kid, I used to be either Frank Lampard, when I want score lots of goals because Frank Lampard was ruthless in front of goal ; Or Gerrard when I wanted to pass the ball perfectly, because Gerrard’s control of the game and control of the ball when he used to pass that ball was impeccable and exquisite. Both will be known for these attributes long after they bid adieu to the game. There is a high possibility we may never see two players quite like them, for they were epitome of brilliance. Legends in every sense.
Truly it is the end of an era. The Premier League is the best league in the world because of such amazing players. I hope and wish for the remaining time they have left to play they provide such magic in MLS. For the players these two were, they will never be replaced. Adios, two of my favorite players..
