Liverpool's greatest player led them one last time in a cup final which he regards to be THE cup final, at a stadium where he has dreamed of winning it a million times. Stevie G scoring the winner to clinch the FA Cup in his last game was an airy hope for the faithful Kop.

But instead he had to watch Arsenal defend it, probably wondering what could have been, and instead what was, ending of his Liverpool career was nothing less than a gut wrenched saga of torn aspirations and broken hearts, as he said goodbye to the Liverpool by scoring a goal which was irrelevant.

This guy has said thank you to the Anfield faithful and Kops around the world a million times, but instead it should be us thanking him. He could have gone to Chelsea and won the EPL, god knows how many times, could have joined mighty Real Madrid and been amongst the elite for much longer duration, but instead he stayed at the club where he saw his idols play, and hoped to lead them to better days. Thank you Steven Gerrard, thank you. You chose a club slipping, yes slipping into mediocrity over clubs rising to the top, all the time hoping Liverpool Football club would be the force it was in 20th century. Alas! you had seen yourself fall and be ridiculed for not lifting the trophy you most dreamed of lifting, even your farewell was the worst one ANY player can possibly receive; let alone a player of your stature.

But what you have got is

love of all the Liverpool fans around the world. Kops adore you too much, and you will always be their captain. You have been the catalyst for The Miracle Of Istanbul and of coarse for The Gerrard Final.

You'll be missed Stevie G! ,especially those long rangers which gave goosebumps ( they still give whenever we watch your long rangers ) and the commentator's scream Gerrrarrrrdddddd you beauty! what a hit son! what a hit! used to be icing on the cake.
