Premier League Top Teams Prediction - Part III

In my previous two articles Premier League Top Teams Prediction and Premier League Top Teams Prediction - Part II , I've discussed how the top four positions in the league will be occupied by Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City respectively. Moving forward, we'll discuss about the Europa League spots I.E 5th and 6th place.

Liverpool: Last season is something Liverpool supporters would want to forget. Their main force Suarez had gone to sunny Spain and they looked clueless with the Uruguayan.  They bought lots of players last season, but just like it proved in Bale’s case, you cannot replace a World Class player by adding numbers to the squad. This season they again have bought lots of players, more noticeably Firmino and Benteke. While the former is talk of the town in Merseyside, it’s the Belgian who I believe will have a major role to play next season. His scoring rate is phenomenal in Premier League, even though he played for a team like Aston Villa. He of course cannot replace Suarez, but he will add quality which was clearly missing in final third last season.

Weakness: Too many changes. Brendan Rodgers chops and changes his side ever season, one has to question where he is taking Liverpool. I reckon they will finish: 5th. Liverpool are rebuilding again, and while some of the buys they have made are very good, they will need time to adjust. Their fixtures in first 7 matches will not help their cause one bit.

Southampton: They will begin this season just like last season – They’ve lost key members of the squad. Yet, you still back them to perform in the league. It’s mainly because no matter the personnel, it is the philosophy that is essential to their success. Managers input is very important for them, that his how they send scouts. Be it Pochettino or now Koeman. They have targets even before money comes in, they know good players can leave and would want to leave. This season they’ve lost Clyne and Schneiderlin, but you just don’t see them falling. They still have good players, they have bought another good player in Clasie, and they play fantastic football.

Weakness: Defence. They’ve lost Alderweireld, Clyne and Schneiderlin. Three key members of the squad, it will take its toll in longer run.

Where they will finish:  6th/7th.
