Real Madrid's preseason tour has come to an end, yesterday they played their last friendly match away in Oslo against Valerenga which ended in a goalless draw. Real Madrid's attack wasn't star studded since Karim Benzima, Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo were notably absentees due to injuries. The only friendly left is the Bernabeu trophy which will be played at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium against Galatasaray on the 18th of August.
After playing series of friendly matches Rafa's Madrid's picture has become quite clear. Rafa has said it quite clearly few times in his press conferences that his Real Madrid won't be a defensive team unlike his previous teams. He'll follow the legacy of Real Madrid by making an attack oriented team which will be solid defensively. He said " we will attack as a unit and also defend as a unit "
One of the best thing about Rafa is that the youngsters will get a good chance to play for the first team. Not to mention his rotation policy, which is awesome.
Youngsters:
Real Madrid's youth team has always been the messiah to the other La Liga clubs. With Rafa at the helm these youngsters have a good chance of playing for the first team. Rafa will use the Players like Martin Odegaard (if he is not loaned out), Marco Asensio, Eero Markkanen, Casemiro and Jese Rodriguez in the Cup matches and also will get some minutes in the league games.
At the end of last season it was clear that Jese wanted to leave due to the lack of playing time under Ancelotti last season. Rafa assured him that he has an important role for him in the team and he decided to stay. Lucas Silva will go on a loan spell due to the number of non European quota.
Goalkeeper:
There are still dark clouds over Keylor navas' future as Real Madrid's first choices goalkeeper despite of getting the jersey number 1 . The uncertainty has only increased since David De Gea was dropped from the squad for the first match of the league against Tottenham Hotspurs. If David De Gea comes then he will surely be the starter and ot remains to be seen if Navas agrees to be second choice goalkeeper for second straight season when he has offers from other clubs. Kiko Casilla however will be second choice goalkeeper. That's it for now folks. I'll publish the next segment of this article soon. Stay tuned.
