Real Madrid Under Rafa Benitez - Midfield Part II

Hello and welcome  back, so we will continue from where we stopped in the last segment.

Toni Kroos, he is also one of the best midfielder in the world. Toni Kroos is a product of the Bayern Munich's Youth Acadamy, he started his career as an attacking midfielder at Bayern Munich. He was very successful in that position under Jupp Heynckes. The arrival of Pep Guardiola saw a change in his role, Pep Guariola used him in Bastian Schweinsteiger's position, he succeeded in that position too but wasn't seen much in scoring goals and assisting since he was playing in a deep role. After Pep Guardiola's first season in charge at the Allianz Arena, Toni Kroos decided to move on because he didn't feel valued and was asking for a pay hike.

Toni Kroos arrived at the Real Madrid just after Real Madrid had won the Long Awaited 'La Decima'. When he arrived, Real Madrid had so many worldclass Midfielders in their arsenal and the Transfer window wasn't closed yet. That season Two of their main midfielders left Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso moved to Bayern Munich and Angel Di Maria Moved to Manchester United. After both's departure, no defensive midfielder was signed.

Carlo Ancelotti assigned Kroos the role of Defensive Midfielder, the role he was never deployed into before. It took some time, but once he was set, everything went on fine, Kroos and Modric managed the defensive duties in the midfield very well. Real Madrid were even on 22 matches winning streak, they were literally bashing every opponent they faced during that streak. Like the saying goes, "nothing is permanent except change" , Modric got injured and they creative hub of Real Madrid was shut down. They didn't have good replacement for Modric either, Kroos could have played in that role but he had to manage the defensive duties, which were equally important. Real Madrid eventually crumbled, so Rafa would like to avoid this problem, so he has signed some good backup. Kroos is also irreplaceble, so have to wait and see how Rafa is going to use him.

Stay tuned for the next segment
